ASSESSMENT OF A CANDIDATE (STUDENT)

Dear all,

This is to bring to your attention the description of students' assessment as defined in the STATUTES SCHEDULE VII 7(e) that;

"Assessment of a candidate shall consist of Continuous Assessments and Ordinary University Examinations".

Every end of semester's grade for a course unit is therefore composed of the two components; Continuous Assessment and Ordinary Examination respectively.

In order to avoid incoveniences that some students have experienced in the past regarding their semester's results, every student should confirm the following within 14 days after the results are published by his/her school/faculty;

(a) That the Continuous Assessments (CATs, practical assignments, written assignments, and lectures attendance etc) marks are accurate and considered in the computation of the Course Unit grade.  A student should appeal to the Dean of the School/Faculty if need arises BUT within this period of 14 days.

(b) That the Ordinary Examinations marks are accurate and are considered in the computation of the Course Unit grade.  A student should appeal for remarking as provided by the STATUTES if need arises.

Please note the following:

1.  The results are approved by the Academic Council after the expiry of 14 days period that is granted to the students to confirm (a) and (b).

2.  Marks for any Course Unit cannot be changed without the authority of the Academic Council (AC) after the results are approved.  Hence no marks will be revised for any candidate without the approval of the AC after the 14 days period provided to confirm (a) and (b).

3.  Appeal cannot be made to remark any examinations in order to improve the weighted mean grade that is used to determine the level of achievement on the Graduation List.
